If you can look beyond the terribly annoying pop-over ads, Defense Systems has a nice recap of the most recent Network Integration Evaluation (NIE 12.2).  The event was conducted at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico from 2-April through 8-June.

According to the article, the Systems Under Test (SUT) included:

“… the Warfighter Information Network – Tactical (WIN-T) Increment 2; Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Handheld, Manpack, Small form factor (HMS) 2-channel manpack radio; and JTRS Enterprise Network Manager (JENM).”

There’s a very nice plug for the Harris AN/PRC-152A running the Soldier Radio Waveform (from Capt. Josh Horner, commander, Alpha Company, 1-35 Armor):

“I was asked the other day whether there was any other stuff we could take right now to combat? If you had to take something, what would you take? I told them it would be the SRW and -152 Alpha.”

General Dynamics put out a press release detailing their participation in the event.

It’s extremely rewarding to see the capabilities of these systems being demonstrated under fairly realistic field conditions.  Our heartfelt congratulations to all of the participants!
